WHAT IS THE EMMAUS WALK?
The Walk to Emmaus offers today’s disciples an opportunity to:
• Rediscover Christ’s presence in their lives,
• Gain a fresh understanding of God’s transforming grace, and
• Form friendships that foster and support spiritual maturity.
WHEN IS IT?
There are about 12 walks each year held at Camp Sumatanga in Gallant, Alabama. They usually run from a Thursday to a Sunday. You will be notified of the exact dates for your walk after your application has been received.
HOW IT WORKS
- Download an application and print.
- Select a person’s name and phone number from the Canterbury’s Emmaus Community list on the Emmaus Walk kiosk in the Commons Area in Canterbury UMC. Call them and ask if they will be your sponsor.
- Write your check for $30 to Alabama Emmaus Community (to hold your spot. The balance of $130 is due when the assigned date has been approved) and give it to your sponsor with your completed application form. Your sponsor will then fill out the bottom portion of the application and mail it in for you. (Your sponsor will be responsible for driving you to and from Camp Sumatanga.)
