Just for visitors
We welcome the opportunity to have you and your family as our guests.
1. WHAT ARE YOUR SERVICES LIKE?
Each Sunday we offer three services. To get a better feel for the type of service and worship, please read more about our New Traditions Worship service, our Traditional Worship service, and our Contemporary Worship service. We hope that you will find a home in one of these offerings.
2. WHAT WILL HAPPEN WHEN I VISIT FOR THE FIRST TIME?
When you enter a worship space you will be greeted and handed a printed worship bulletin with a service outline and announcements. We hope this helps you navigate the service and your surroundings. Children are welcome to worship with you at any service. We offer a loving and quality nursery for infants - K4.
3. WHAT DO I WEAR TO ATTEND YOUR SERVICES?
You’ll find everything from business casual to business suits to “Sunday Best” attire. Our Traditional Worship service in the Sanctuary is a more formal service and the dress often reflects that; Contemporary Worship in Canterbury Center is more causal, and many people wear business casual attire.
4. WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?
Canterbury is located at 350 Overbrook Road in Mountain Brook, Alabama 35213.
A floor plan of Canterbury United Methodist Church is available at the front desk to help you find your way.
5. DO YOU HAVE A MIDWEEK SERVICE?
We do not have a regular mid-week service, but we do offer a teaching and a variety of classes on Wednesday evenings. Learn more about the groups here.
6. WHAT ABOUT MY CHILDREN?
At Canterbury, your children are a top priority. Nurseries are staffed with excellent preschool caregivers so parents can experience a meaningful time of worship. Of course, children are always welcome in worship and encouraged to attend.
7. DO YOU HAVE SUNDAY SCHOOL?
Yes, Sunday School for all ages is from 9:15 - 10:15 a.m. every Sunday morning. Sunday School classes are as great way to connect. You can build friendships, learn more about the life of our church, and have the opportunity to grow in your faith. For a listing of classes, click here.
8. HOW CAN I MEET OTHERS AND GET CONNECTED?
There are many ways to get involved. Start by chatting with anyone you see! You’ll find a warm welcome from anyone in worship, and our ministers would love to meet you following the service. If you have further questions, please contact Rev. Drew Clayton.
9. HOW CAN I BE DISCIPLED AND GROW?
Our desire is to see you become a fully-devoted follower of Christ. Sunday School classes and midweek small groups are a wonderful way to study the Bible and make new friends in the process.
