We are so happy to welcome you and your child to Canterbury! As United Methodists, we believe that children are important members of the family of God and are deserving of our very best efforts in ministry. Our prayer is that the bonds of faith that begin in early childhood will lead to an eternal relationship with God and with His church. Take a look at some of our programs below.

Your understanding is needed while we update all the Children's pages. Thank you!

Sunday School

In Children's Sunday School, our goal is for children to form lasting relationships with God, with the Church, and with the members of their Christian faith community. We want them to experience being a part of the Kingdom of God now and forever! Classes are offered each Sunday morning from 9:15 - 10:15 a.m. for children two yhears through the sixth grade. Check-in is at the welcome station in the lobby of the Children's Building. For more information click here.

3 D

3-D is an exciting new third grade Sunday School experience on the third floor of the Main Building.  Using a modified Workshop Rotation format, the children enjoy using their new Bibles in an original Canterbury curriculum – Digging into Scripture; Devoting our lives to Jesus Christ; Becoming His Disciples”.
The KingDOME
Fourth and fifth graders can be found on the third floor of the Main Building enjoying the Worshop Rotation model of learning in the Canterbury KindDOME. Under the guidance of committed adult leaders, these children learn the major stories of Scripture in a two-year rotation that includes engaging assembly time, Bible memory work and hands-on activities. KingDOME kids and their friends are also invited to participate in First Fridays, Canterbury's unique community Bible Studay on the first Friday of every month during the school year. For more information contact Gina Thomas at 874-1557 or .
The 6th grade Sunday School classes are part of Canterbury's comprehensive Confirmation Ministry. Children receive instruction in the biblical, theological and historical background needed to make a choice about a life-long commitment to faith in Jesus Christ, as well as full membership in the United Methodist Church. They also participate in special fellowship events (three retreats) and service projects. All of this culminates in the moving service of Confirmation and Membership held each year in May. For more information click here or contact Susan Wilborn at 874-1539 or .

Wednesday Night Connect
On Wednesday nights from September through April, Canterbury Children are engaged in a variety of age-appropriate activities during the program hour, 6:15 - 7:15 p.m. Childcare is provided for the youngest children under two, so that the rest of the family can get in on all of the action (including Bible Studies and special interest groups for adults). Three and four year old LAMBS meet on the first floor of the Children's building, enjoying lessons, art, and music for beginners. Children's Music and CAMP Wednesday (Children's Activity and Mission Program) may be found on the second floor for children in 5K through 4th grade, along with CLUB 56 fellowship for 5th and 6th graders. Throughout the year, the Children ( ages 5K through 4th grade) sing in Worship services, present fabulous musical productions, and participate in "Singing Service" projects.   For more information on Wednesday Night Connect, click here.

For regularly scheduled worship services and on Wednesday evening childcare is always provided. Canterbury is blessed to have a wonderful staff of dedicated workers in the Nursery who provide care for children, so that parents/granparents may participate in other ministries of the church. Children may stay in the nursery during worship up until five years old. For more information on childcare click here or contact Amanda Fuller, Nursery Director, at 204-874-1546 or .
