Canterbury Academy - Christians and the Common Good
Christians and the Common Good: How Faith Intersects Life
Time: Wednesdays, 6:15 - 7:15 pm
Begins: January 11 Extent: 5 weeks
Location: M226
Coordinator: Oliver Clark
Come join fellow Christians, representing several different perspectives, as we explore God’s call to us for justice, mercy and a commitment to the common good. We will discuss how to be more effectively engaged with our national, state and local leaders on issues that affect the well being of all citizens. Participants will be encouraged to read Charles Gutenson’s book, Christians and the Common Good, and then discuss in class the different paths toward what we as Christians discern is the common good. This will be done with the understanding that committed Christians will have differing views and there may be several paths that work toward the same goal. Issues to be discussed will include immigration, Alabama’s system of taxation, and Alabama constitutional reform. Dr. Oliver Clark and others will lead the discussions.
