My Little Brown Bag

My Little Brown Bag
Making a Difference to Children

We help the elementary/middle school age children in our area when they are home for the holidays, spring break, or summer vacation.

The children are in the school free breakfast/lunch program due to a variety of reasons and during long breaks when these children do not get to eat at school, we do our best to help.  If you would like to volunteer to prepare "Little Brown Bags" please contact Susan Bellows at susanbellows@charter.net.

  • Volunteers and groups are needed to purchase food from the snack food list.

  • Snack sacks (available at Canterbury) should be packed and placed in the food pantry at Canterbury.

  • A representative from The Community Church Without Walls comes to Canterbury to get the bags.

  • Donations for this project are vital. Thank you for your check made out to Canterbury UMC with "My Little Brown Bag" in the memo line.
Here is a list of what we feel is a healthy alternative for children to eat during the days they are out of school. To us it's not much, but to these children who receive the food- it's everything.
